Pre-Wedding in Măng Đen, Vietnam's Greener Da Lat | Dung & Tân

Some of our favourite shoots begin with a simple wish. When we first met Dung and Tân, they told us they only wanted one thing. To go somewhere cool and green, and to finally slow down together before the wedding. Work had kept them both busy for a long time, and it had been ages since they last took a trip just for the two of them.

At first they thought of Da Lat, the familiar name everyone knows. But we gently suggested somewhere else. Măng Đen, a quieter and wilder place in Vietnam's Central Highlands, often called a greener version of Da Lat, with the same cool climate and misty nature but far fewer crowds. To our surprise, they agreed right away, even though our whole TIMO team had never photographed there before.

The weather had other plans. It had rained for days on end, and everything was damp and grey when we arrived, the sky heavy above us. But none of it touched Dung and Tân. They stayed cheerful and excited the whole time, soaking up every moment of the trip, and honestly their energy gave us a real boost of confidence as we worked.

And in the end, the sky rewarded us. Late in the afternoon, while we wandered across a grassy hill in a soft drizzle, the clouds suddenly broke and light spilled through. Tiny raindrops caught the golden glow of the setting sun, and for a few minutes the whole hillside turned into something out of a dream. It was, without exaggeration, one of the most beautiful sunsets any of us had ever seen.

We stood there for a while and simply watched, cameras lowered, letting the moment sink in. Sometimes the best images come from the places you almost didn't go, on the days that almost didn't work out. Măng Đen gave Dung and Tân the quiet escape they had been longing for, and it gave us a reminder of why we love this work. You can plan everything, but the most magical moments still arrive on their own. Thank you, Dung and Tân, for trusting us all the way to a place none of us had been. We would do it again in a heartbeat.
