A Wild Waterfall Elopement at Liêng Nung, Đắk Nông | Huy & Dịu

To take the very first photo in this story, we hiked. Nearly two kilometres through ancient forest, gripping ropes to cross the places where the trail had slipped away. Seven of us, with Huy and Dịu, packs and camera gear on our backs, making our way toward a waterfall none of us had ever seen in person. It was hard. It was also one of the most alive days we have had all year.

Liêng Nung, a hidden waterfall in Đắk Nông

Đắk Nông (Dak Nong) sits in Vietnam's Central Highlands, and honestly, it is a genuine hidden gem. Most couples planning an adventure elopement in Vietnam think of Sapa or Da Lat. Almost no one comes here, and that is exactly the appeal. Liêng Nung is wild and largely untouched: a tall, powerful curtain of water falling into a rock amphitheatre draped in green. When we stepped out of the trees and finally saw it, nobody said much. We just stood there.

An elopement is an experience, not a checklist

For us, a pre-wedding or elopement day has never been a box to tick before the wedding. We want it to be something the two of you actually live, a real memory you carry for the rest of your lives, before you step into the long road of marriage together. Huy and Dịu wanted exactly that, and they were willing to earn it. That is why a day this demanding still felt so joyful.

The road there is half the magic

What we did not expect was how much the journey itself would give us. Fields of wild elephant grass leaning into the wind. Roads cutting straight through primeval forest. Little suspension bridges over quiet rivers. None of it was planned, and all of it was beautiful. Đắk Nông kept handing us one raw, magnificent view after another.
