A Da Lat Destination Wedding in the Pine Forest, Huy & Tú
When Huy first reached out asking us to be the photographers for his own destination wedding in Da Lat, we were genuinely surprised. Huy is a fellow photographer, someone from inside the craft, and we had not known each other all that long. Being handed the entire responsibility for the images of a wedding by another photographer always brings a rush of excitement with a little pressure attached, because you know they see everything the way you do. Thankfully, all this time later, looking back through these frames, we can still feel the whole of that day exactly as it happened.
A morning in the pine forest
Da Lat gives a destination wedding something few places in Vietnam can: a cool, quiet highland morning under tall pines, soft light through the trees, and the sense that the whole day can slow right down. We spent the first hours with the details and the getting ready, the stationery, the dress, a hand-embroidered hoop, letters read by a window with the forest just outside.
A ceremony among the pines
The ceremony was held outdoors, an aisle laid through the pine forest with the Da Lat hills falling away beyond. There is a particular hush to a forest ceremony: the guests go quiet, the light filters down, and everything narrows to the two people at the front. Huy and Tú exchanged their vows there, among friends and family, and we simply moved through it, catching the glances, the tears and the laughter as they came.
Golden hour over the valley
Then the day gave us its gift. As the ceremony ended, the sun dropped low over the valley and the whole forest turned to gold. Petals in the air, a recessional back down the aisle, and a few quiet minutes for the two of them at the edge of the hillside while the sky moved from amber to violet. This is why couples travel to Da Lat to marry: light like this, in a place that feels a world away.
A night to remember
After dark the celebration came alive under strings of warm light in the trees. Toasts, dancing, old friends, the kind of party that only happens when everyone has travelled to be there together. For a destination wedding, the evening is half the reason to do it, and Huy and Tú's ran long and happy.
