Nguyen & My: A Misty Forest Elopement, Pre-Wedding & Engagement Ceremony in Da Lat

Some of the most beautiful moments happen when it is just the two of you. Nguyen and My chose to skip the big day and elope instead, exchanging their vows on a misty hilltop in the Da Lat forest, late on a soft, grey afternoon. Here is their story, and the short film we made of it.

A late afternoon at The Forest

The light was already low when we reached The Forest, a quiet clearing high in the Da Lat pines. Cloud drifted across the hills behind the ceremony, a fine rain came and went, and somewhere in the trees the birds kept singing. It is the kind of weather most couples worry about, and exactly the kind we love. Da Lat does moody, romantic light better than anywhere in Vietnam.

Vows from the heart

With only each other and a simple white floral arch, Nguyen and My read the vows they had written by hand. No crowd, no schedule, nothing to perform for, just two people saying the truest things they had to say. The wind moved the flowers, the mist rolled in over the valley, and for a few minutes the whole hillside seemed to hold its breath with them.
