Vince & Ngoc: A Saigon Film Pre-Wedding at the Opera House and City Museum

There is something about film photography that a love story deserves: the softness, the grain, the way warm light spills across a frame and simply stays there. So when Vince and Ngoc asked us to shoot their Saigon pre-wedding on film, we could not have been happier.

We spent the day at two of Ho Chi Minh City’s most beautiful French-colonial landmarks: the Saigon Opera House and the Ho Chi Minh City Museum. Two looks, two moods, one very in-love couple.

Golden light at the Saigon Opera House

We started outside the Saigon Opera House, where Ngoc wore a sleek satin gown and the late-morning sun did all the work. Between the fountain, the arches and a quiet corner of green, Vince and Ngoc barely stopped laughing.

Film loves this kind of light: soft flare, gentle skin tones, and a little bit of old-Saigon romance in every frame.

Veils and arches at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum

Then we moved to the Ho Chi Minh City Museum, the old Gia Long Palace and one of the city’s most photographed spots for a reason. Ngoc changed into a lace gown and a long cathedral veil, and the tall arched windows turned into pure golden backlight.

This is where film really shines: the veil, the glow, and the quiet in-between moments. No rush, no heavy posing, just the two of them.

Why we love a Saigon pre-wedding on film

Digital is sharp and safe, but film slows everyone down. It rewards patience and real emotion over perfect poses, and it gives your photos a timeless, grainy warmth that still feels beautiful decades later. For a city as full of character as Saigon, it is a perfect match.
