Home — Film Wedding Photographer in Vietnam

We're TIMO Wedding, an award-winning team (WPJA Top 100 Photographer) based in Vietnam. Alongside digital, we photograph weddings, pre-weddings and elopements on real 35mm and 120mm medium format film. It is soft, honest and quietly imperfect, and it is why a growing number of couples, many of them travelling to Vietnam from abroad, now ask us to shoot their story on film.

Why choose film for your wedding

Digital can be bright and dazzling. Film is something gentler. It renders light and skin tones the way your eye remembers them, it ages beautifully instead of looking like a passing trend, and its grain is soft and organic, never the harsh noise of a digital sensor in low light. Because each roll holds only a limited number of frames, film also asks us to slow down and wait for the real moment rather than the posed one.

35mm and 120mm medium format

We shoot in two film formats, and often both in a single day. 35mm is prized for its classic grain and honest, documentary feel, perfect for candid moments and movement. 120mm medium format uses a much larger negative, which gives creamy tones, gentle depth and remarkable detail, ideal for portraits and the quiet, held moments. Together they give your album both energy and elegance.

Film pre-weddings across Vietnam

Film travels well, and so do we. We love it for Da Lat's cool highland light and misty pine forests, for golden-hour beaches on the south coast, and for the streets and river retreats of Saigon. Wherever your destination wedding in Vietnam takes you, film suits it, from a two-person elopement to a full celebration with family and friends.

Film and digital, side by side

You are never choosing between film and safety. We always shoot digital alongside film, so you keep the soul and texture of film together with full, dependable coverage of the whole day. Real film is developed and scanned by hand, so film galleries take a little longer to deliver, and in our experience it is always worth the short wait.

Film is available as an option on any of our sessions. Tell us what you're dreaming of and we'll reply within 24 hours with availability and a tailored quote.

Film wedding photography — FAQ

What is film wedding photography?

Your images are captured on real rolls of film in analogue cameras, not a digital sensor. We use 35mm for classic grain and a reportage feel, and 120mm medium format for creamy tones and detail, then develop and scan the film by hand.

Is film more expensive than digital?

Film adds the cost of the rolls plus hand developing and scanning, so it is usually an option on top of a session. Tell us your plans and we'll send a clear, tailored quote.

Do you shoot digital as well as film?

Yes. We photograph digital alongside film, so you get the feel of film together with full, reliable coverage of the whole day.

How long does it take to get film photos?

Because real film is developed and scanned by hand, film galleries take a little longer than digital. We tell you the timeline up front.
