Ho Tram & Vung Tau Pre-Wedding & Engagement Shoot: A Cinematic Forest Near Saigon (Tim & Hai Anh)
Only a couple of hours from Saigon, Ho Tram and neighbouring Vung Tau are best known for their beautiful, easy beaches, one of the simplest coastal escapes from the city and well worth the trip. But hidden just behind the coast is something most couples never expect: a primeval melaleuca forest with an almost otherworldly, cinematic beauty, and a single long road running straight through the middle of it. That forest is where we spent the day with Tim and Hai Anh, and it became one of the most atmospheric pre-wedding shoots we have ever done.
A cinematic melaleuca forest
The melaleuca (tram) forest near Ho Tram feels like a film set. Tall, pale trunks lean and twist in every direction, soft light filters down in shafts, and a faint mist hangs between the trees. It is moody, a little mysterious, and endlessly beautiful on camera. We let Tim and Hai Anh move through it slowly, a deep red bouquet against a white dress, and let the forest do what it does best: turn a couple into a scene from a movie.
The long road through the trees
Cutting straight through the forest is a long, empty road that seems to run all the way to the horizon, framed by perfectly matched walls of green. It is the kind of place that makes you want to run, to kiss in the middle of the road, or simply to walk hand in hand into the distance, so that is exactly what we did. The symmetry and depth of this road gave us some of the most striking, editorial frames of the whole session.

For couples living in or visiting Saigon, Ho Tram and Vung Tau are one of the easiest and most rewarding day trips for a pre-wedding, engagement or couple shoot. You are only about two to three hours from the city, yet you get two completely different backdrops in one place: long sandy beaches and blue water on one side, and this dreamlike melaleuca forest on the other. Come early for soft morning light in the forest, save the coast for golden hour, and you go home with a full, varied gallery without ever travelling far from Ho Chi Minh City.
