Nha Trang or Cam Ranh, what's the difference?

They sit on the same stretch of coast in Khánh Hòa province and most couples treat them as one destination. Nha Trang is the lively bay city with islands just offshore. Cam Ranh (the long Bãi Dài / Long Beach strip about 30 minutes south) is where most of the newest five-star beachfront resorts are, right beside Cam Ranh International Airport. For a beachfront resort wedding, couples usually marry on the Cam Ranh strip or on one of Nha Trang's island resorts, and it is all a short drive apart.

The best time of year for a Nha Trang beach wedding

This coast has its own weather pattern, different from the rest of Vietnam:

• Dry season (roughly January to August) is the season to book: sunny, hot and dry, with calm seas, the prime window for a beach wedding.
• Wet season (October to December) brings most of the year's rain and the occasional storm, so most couples avoid these months for an outdoor ceremony.

Getting there, and getting around

Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) serves both Nha Trang and Cam Ranh, with international flights from several Asian cities and frequent domestic flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi (about 1 hour). The Cam Ranh (Bãi Dài) resorts are only 15 to 20 minutes from the airport; Nha Trang city is about 45 minutes. Resorts arrange transfers, and we organise a private car for the wedding day.
